Collaboration between Kiwi & The Papaya Mangoes and Aputunpe.
Kiwi & The Papaya Mangoes are a Tokyo based band who combine Japanese traditional and folk dance music with Brazilian, Indian, African sounds with elements of reggae, dub, folk, funk and rock. Aputunpe feature Rekpo and Mayunkiki from Marewrew, an Ainu singing group. The song Kompu Satke Menoko ( A Woman Drying Kelp) was composed by Sada Hiraga (1895-2015) a respected Ainu cultural successor. The A side features a City Pop style arrangement while the B side is an Ethiopian funk style arrangement of an Ainu folk song.
