Bernard Frize: Hands On

This catalogue accompanied Bernard Frize's 2003 exhibition Hands On. 

This exhibition combined painting, sculpture and photography.

Frize has likened his various ways of making work to recipes. More often than not he chooses paint as his main ingredient and then it becomes a question of process and editing. Frize makes crucial decisions as to how to proceed with his painting and the rest is virtually automatic. The repetition with which paint is applied to the canvas leaves no room for any new inspiration that will significantly effect the outcome.
