Women Artists Bundle

Sale price £20.00 Regular price

A bundle of Ikon published catalogues featuring three leading women artists.

Polly Apfelbaum, Waiting for the UFOs (a space set between a landscape and a bunch of flowers) featured large-scale colourful installations of textiles, ceramics and drawings. Apfelbaum’s artistic practice is framed within wider sociological and political contexts, and the legacy of post-war American art.

Sheela Gowda exhibited at Ikon in 2017. Her works ‘anticipate, counter or are inspired by the space to begin with; the elements could take on other variants in other spaces’. The result is a dialogue between what the artist finds in the gallery, and ideas and observations informed by her experience of living in Bangalore. Includes an essay by writer and academic Anthony Downey.

A Meteorite lands in Birmingham’s BullRing documents Cornelia Parker’s spectacular fireworks display on 26 March 2000, launched from the roof of Birmingham’s landmark Rotunda building. The pyrotechnic mixture contained a pulverized meteorite that had first fallen to earth in China during the 16th century. Its combustion recreated the final stage of a cosmic journey, a dazzling meteorite shower over Birmingham's Bullring Market. Includes seven double-page photographs of Parker’s fireworks display, 15 full-page photographic presentations of the artist’s work, and essay by Tate Modern Curator Jessica Morgan.
