This Could Happen to You, accompanied an exhibition surveying Ikon in the 1970s from 2010. There was an emphasis on aesthetic innovation, matched by efforts towards greater accessibility, involving artists from further afield in the UK, and occasionally from abroad.
As Exciting As We Can Make It: Ikon in the 1980s In 2014 it drew on the work of 29 artists working in a wide range of media including film, photography, painting, sculpture and sound. The 80s saw the rise of postmodernism and a particular emphasis on appropriation, with artists such as John Stezaker referencing Dada through his collages.
